An Artists Utility Belt

An Artists Utility Belt

Sketchbooks

A sketchbook is a very sacred possession to an artist. It can be an artist's best friend no matter what he or she maybe drawing in it because it is a tool for you to practice, and fine tune your skills. In a way, it is a therapeutic way to get your thoughts out, and express any emotions that you might be feeling. A sketchbook's pages can tell a very detailed story, just like a writer's journal would. The only difference with a sketchbook is that instead of using words you are using pictures, images, and also designs, to tell the story.

Sharpies

Every artist that you ever encounter in your life will have a medium that they enjoy using for their artwork. A medium is just a one word way of saying, the type of material that was used to create anything. My personal preference is a the infamous SHARPIE markers. I recommend this type of marker for drawing, and also art in general because out of all the other markers that I have ever used for my art, it is the only one that produces the finest lines. Also, as an artist you never want your materials to fail you, in any way. Sharpies are the best marker to use because they don't smear when you accidentally rub them, and the don't smear when you place two contrasting colors next to one another, for example black and yellow. Furthermore, Sharpies allow you, the artist, to apply the most realistic details to any creation due to the different tip sizes:

Chisel Tip
Super Fine Tip
Fine Point
Ultra Fine Point

Colored Pencils

Just like the markers, there are many high quality colored pencils, but the brand that I trust most of all is DERWENT. This brand provides you with a variety of art supplies, but their colored pencils are the best in my opinion. All of the colors pop right off of the pages, and are so vibrant, that they give any work of art a professional looking touch. Not only does the DERWENT brand provide you with colored pencils, but they also have water soluble pencils. These pencils are really amazing because you can draw any thing, take a wet paint brush to it, and smear the graphite, to create a shadow like appearance to your authentic creations.

Pencils/ Pens

For an artist, his trusty side kick has, and always will be, the classic pencil and eraser. Pencils are a good utensil to use for sketching, and learning how to shade things properly to make the picture look more lifelike. For any artist I recommend using the BIC Matic Grip Mechanical Pencil. With either 0.5mm or 0.7 mm size lead. As an artist, I enjoy using pencils, but on the other hand, I like using regular BIC Ballpoint pens, too. Most of all, I love to use the PRECISE V5 Rolling Ball Extra Fine Tip pen to give my artwork a sophisticated look. Not only does this pen give my drawings a extremely sharp edge, but it also brings everything I draw to life.

I HOPE THAT YOU USE THIS ARTIST UTILITY BELT TO DISCOVER THE ARTIST IN YOU! ! ! !
